Suma is a sovereign state in Sector 8 -5. It is by far the smallest member of the Union, with only 0.7 billion inhabitants, almost the complete population of the Suman race. Suma was a founding member of the Union and has made significant financial contributions beyond what is required by taxation, even in excess of larger worlds.

The Suman are a very long lived race, and elections are held every century, leading to its government being remarkably stable in comparison to other worlds. The current rulers are amongst the longest ruling amongst all member worlds and many are the same leaders that originally started the Union.

As part of their stability they are sometimes slow to adapt to changing circumstances in comparison to other races, usually calling for calm deliberation in the face of any crisis - however, their perseverance has made them successful in many area's where other nations had long given up.
